Alesha Dixon's Personal Life

In June 2005, after a five-year relationship, Alesha Dixon married MC Harvey, formerly of So Solid Crew, in a private ceremony at Brocket Hall,Hertfordshire. Alesha Dixon filed for divorce just over a year later after MC Harvey had an affair with Javine Hylton. They have no children together

After Alesha Dixon marriage broke down and Alesha Dixon record label dumped her within the space of two weeks Dixon suffered from depression, in a later interview Alesha Dixon said, "It was the lowest point of my life. I just kept thinking, 'What have I done to deserve this?' I didn't see the point in living." Alesha Dixon decided move on and to turn around her life, saying "When you are knocked down you have two choices - stay down or get back up, stronger." Alesha Dixon said that Strictly Come Dancing helped her overcome Alesha Dixon’s problems and gave her a "Zest for life"

Alesha Dixon cut all contact with her older brother, Mark Harris, after he sold his story of their "terrible" childhood, claiming that they "often went to bed hungry" and that her mother, Beverley neglected them in favour of sometimes violent boyfriends, Alesha Dixon’s brother also accused Dixon of turning her back on her family in the pursuit of fame and fortune. In response to the comments about Alesha Dixon’s mother, Alesha Dixon said, "I cherish her. If anyone is rude about her or says a bad word about her they won't be a part of my life. Unfortunately, that's how I feel about my brother.”

Alesha Dixon's career

Alesha Dixon’s career began in 1999, when Alesha met Sabrina Washington as they joined Dance Attic (a popular dance class school in West London), and the both of them became a duo. In 2000, when both Alesha Dixon and Washington were auditioning, they met with Su-Elise Nash, and formed a trio. Soon, they were signed to Telstar Records with the addition of a new member, Zena McNally, and Alesha Dixon & Sabrina Washington became the popular Garage/R&B girl band, Mis-Teeq. However, right after the release of their debut single Why?, Zena McNally had left the band to pursue her own solo career that has yet to succeed.

Alesha & Sabrina went on as just a trio, and released their debut album. In 2001, they released their first album, Lickin’ On Both Sides featuring hits such as All I Want, One Night Stand, B With Me and Roll On / This Is How We Do It. In 2003, Alesha & Sabrina released their second album, Eye Candy featuring hits such as Scandalous (a song that they are most famous for), Can’t Get It Back and Style. Following the two albums, they toured the United States in 2004 and released their American debut album Mis-Teeq, a compilation of the two albums released in Europe and Asia. At the same time, Alesha Dixon also appeared as a dancer in the video for N*E*R*D’s single Alesha Dixon Wants To Move, from their second album Fly or Die.

Alesha Dixon's Early Life


Alesha Dixon was born in Welwyn Garden City, one of seven children born to a British mother, Beverly Harris and Jamaican father, Melvin Dixon. Alesha Dixon has five half-brothers called Adrian, Mark, John, Jeroame and Callum and one half-sister called Leyanne. As a child she learnned street dancing and later met future Mis-Teeq bandmate Sabrina Washington whilst taking dance classes. Alesha Dixon was educated at Monks Walk School, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Alesha Dixon first job was at Ladbrokes, although Alesha Dixon wanted to become a PE teacher after leaving college. After completing a diploma course in sports studies, Alesha Dixon had planned to take up a place at Loughborough University, but she was approached on a train by a record producer, who asked Alesha Dixon if she could sing, and on the way back home Alesha Dixon was approached again by someone who asked if Alesha Dixon was in a band. Alesha Dixon then decided to put her degree on hold.

Mis-Teeq separated in 2005 and Dixon, signed to polydor, began recording her debut solo album, Fired Up, but due to poor record sales of Alesha Dixon Fired Up first found fame in the all-female R&B trio Mis-Teeq, however first single she parted with her label. Subsequently, was not released in most territories, including her native United Kingdom.
